Frankfurt Airport opened a state-of-the-art visitor center in August 2021. Its centerpiece is a scale model of Airport City. 55 square meters in size and packed with POIs.
With AR-Explorer and the VisitFra app, we have created a new, digital dimension. The visitor center thus comes to life digitally! Aircraft can be viewed analogously to real aircraft taking off and landing on the model using a smartphone. The application delivers real added value for operators and guests and helps to make the Visitor Center a crowd puller at Frankfurt Airport.
Geo-Trackable
To assign the AR content to the exact position on the model, an image marker is scanned with the app as a trackable.
Dynamic AR scenes
In real time, it is possible to experience how the aircraft take off or fly in on the individual runways. The 3D models correspond to the aircraft types and the airline of the aircraft actually taking off or landing.
AR Content
The app can be used to explore the individual POIs on the model and view additional information and media files. Here, texts, images or movies are delivered from the backend to the app.
