As Built - As Planned - comparison of complex technical building equipment

AR-Explorer uses augmented reality to visualize complex technical building equipment.

Drinking water demonstrator at the E3D of RWTH Aachen University

With AR-Explorer, the as-built-as-planned comparison of comprehensive and complex technical building equipment (TGA) is child's play and intuitive. A laboratory demonstrator for drinking water treatment in a test hall at RWTH Aachen University can be used to test the superimposition and added value of digital 3D and BIM data in reality. The accuracy of slam tracking on the smartphone is particularly interesting here.

Precise positioning with "QAR code"

The "QAR code" is used for precise positioning in space even without a GPS signal. The QAR code defines the initial pose and enables the exact overlay of digital data with the real environment. After the initial scanning of the codes on the first floor, tracking is still very accurate even many meters away on the second floor.

The demo video clearly shows how precisely AR Explorer works in use.

The "AR lens" - an interesting feature

Another remarkable feature of the app is the "AR lens". This only shows the central image section of the BIM model and enables the viewer to discover concealed pipes in a complex MEP environment with "X-ray vision", so to speak. This makes navigation and inspection in technically demanding environments much easier.

Integration of a ticket system and display of sensor data

The AR-Explorer app integrates a multilingual ticket system and makes sensor data directly tangible in the field. With these enhancements, AR-Explorer is able to display not only plans but also tasks and sensor data such as temperatures and air quality in the real environment.
